Why standard approaches fail older foundations
A finished basement framed before the moisture question was answered is an expensive way to hide a problem. Everything built down there — studs, insulation, board, flooring, trim — becomes something water can destroy.

What goes against the foundation, what the floor is built on, and how the space is insulated all need to be chosen for the conditions.
